Dear Friends,
Thank you, Friends, so much for your continued prayers and support. I had what was supposed to be a minor surgery last Thursday, but had an autoimmune response which impaired my ability to swallow. I felt overwhelmed. But then I felt your love and your prayers, and I relaxed into the hand of Love. Even though there was so much going on, you all stepped up. The work of the church went on in a wonderful way. Homeless people were fed at Thrive Warming Center. Meetings with laughter and community were held. Your book discussion went well as you took on the heavy theological aspect of why as a Quaker we are particularly encouraged to care for the earth. Klamath Falls Friends did what Klamath Falls Friends does well — work in community.
I so very much appreciate how you have “been there” for my family, providing support, food, and taking Jay out around town. It feels very much like we are members of the church, and you were great in your outreach and your care. Thank you! I have finally been released from the hospital, but it will be a minute until I am back to my old self again. My apologies for the shortness of today’s Friday with Friends.
This Friday with Friends’ attached bulletin for Sunday contains some important announcements, so please open it. It also has the link for you to comment on Joe’s leadership and ministry skills. The end date for those comments to be into the yearly meeting is approaching. Don’t forget that this Sunday is Meeting for Business at the end of the worship service.
There were times in the hospital it was easy to see the glass as half empty, but thinking of you and knowing you are doing good work in this world made me feel very blessed. I look forward to getting back into the groove with everyone and serving beside you. Until then, you are all very much in my prayers.
Blessings,
Leigh
