Dear Friends and friends of Friends,
What about the “C” in SPICES? How do we celebrate and build community? We bring our gifts to each other and offer them to the group to be used in new and unique ways we may not have imagined. We bring our hearts wide open knowing they might become broken. We bring our hands ready to clasp another’s and another’s until we have a perfect circle of inclusion. There are many chances this coming month to help show your dedication to community. We are focused on creating a community not just at Klamath Falls Friends Church but between other fellowships and other community members.
Signs of spring are happening. Let’s celebrate together! On April 5, 2025, at 11:30 we will have a Peace Luncheon at Klamath Falls Friends. This will be a perfect opportunity to welcome in the warmer weather and new signs of life. Offering a simple lunch of bread, finger foods and soups, this event is our tribute to Earth Day. The speaker is Mary Ann Percy who through listening as well as speaking will help us discern together how Spirit is asking us to act during the on-going and accelerating threats to the Web of Life on Earth. Mary Ann Percy calls this “the fundamental spiritual crisis” and will be offering practices that help us “connect with Spirit, remain faithful and help us move through a sense of despair to discover what is ours to do and find joy while doing it.” Mary Ann Percy is a representative of Quaker Earthcare Witness, trained by Joanna Macy, and a student of Thomas Berry and Robin Wall Kimmerer. Mary Ann is a member of Bellingham Friends in Bellingham, Washington. She is traveling from Quaker meeting to Quaker meeting helping us to find connection with one another – but this is nondenominational and interfaith in its scope. This Peace Luncheon is open to anyone and will be a wonderful and enlightening time and way to celebrate the changing season.
We are also having another Potluck on March 23 at the end of meeting for worship. It will be a chance to reconnect with old friends if it has been a while since you have come. Please meet our new attenders and welcome them to the circle of Friends we call our church. If you have decided not to attend regularly, the 23rd is a great time just to come for fellowship.
If it has been a while since you have attended you are encouraged to look at our website at klamathfallsfriendschurch.org. We want you to know that we are here for you. Feel free to call me at 541-363-6885 for any reason. We are here.
Sincerely,
Leigh
